Meet the team: Tuokio, the creators behind Boom Slingers

September 24, 2019

Miikka Harjuntausta (Code/Art/Design), Krista Erkkilä, (Art/Design), Samuli Häyrynen (Code/Servers/Backend) and Jouni Salonen (Business) are the people behind Tuokio, a studio which has been developing mobile games since 2012.

With experience in companies such as Frogmind and Rovio, and having been involved in dozens of weird little jam games, the team has embarked on the development of Boom Slingers, an online multiplayer turn-based title with a combat system inspired by Worms artillery and card games.

We interviewed them to learn more about them and their project.

F2P Campus: How did the idea of the game come up?

We’ve been waiting to play a game like this one.

F: What’s the game about? What makes it special?

Boom Slingers is a tribute to the old beloved genre of turn-based artillery games. It would be best described as a combination of Worms, Angry Birds and Hearthstone. It is a simple battle tournament game you can play with the world or your friends.

F: What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned at the F2P Campus?

It is important to talk to people. To tell what you are doing, and where you are going. They might have valuable tips and lessons to share, or maybe even want to join the journey.

F: Why did you choose free-to-play as a business model?

We know the platform as developers and consumers. We like the features it provides. Mainly the accessibility of it. Free-to-play mobile is the most social platform, and we like making shared experiences.
