What began as a small project for Serbian television has ended up, 13 years later, becoming Football Clash Arena (iOS, Android), PWNRS’s first game. The studio made up of Nikola (Server Engineer), Pedja (Client Engineer), Ivan (Data Science intern) and Slavko (CEO), has only one objective: to create ‘the most badass PvP turn-based football strategy you will ever play’.
F2P Campus (F): How did the idea of the game come up?
We first built the game 13 years ago as a special feature for the World Cup in Germany for a local TV media company. We couldn’t continue the development and we spent the next decade traveling around the globe, working in big tech companies and plotting our comeback.
F: What’s the game about? What makes it special?
The game is a lovechild of FIFA and XCOM – turn-based tactical football. It is a unique PvP multiplayer experience in a world of other football crap.
F: What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned at the F2P Campus?
Hard to enumerate – but we learned about the numerous mistakes we made in a fashion that did not demoralize us – instead, it inspired us to kick even more ass.
F: Why did you choose free-to-play as a business model?
Seemed like the way to go on mobile. We decided to make a mobile game because I got outvoted by my partners.
